How to Raise Money for Breast Cancer
One in eight women will face a diagnosis of invasive breast cancer in her lifetime. Chances are, someone you love will battle this disease. It can be hard to read the headlines. You want to do something, but you feel helpless. But you don’t have to do big things to make significant changes. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but work against the disease continues throughout the year. Want to lend a hand? Here are a few ways to raise money for breast cancer awareness, research, support, and treatment.
Schedule HVAC service in October
The staff at Air Specialist cares about your mothers, sisters, daughters, friends, and anyone facing a breast cancer diagnosis. During the month of October, $1 will be donated to the Komen Foundation Houston for every service call we make. The fall months are the best time to have a professional look at your furnace before you need to rely on it. Call us now at [csad_phone] to schedule your service call and support the Komen Foundation Houston at the same time.
Throw a “Pink Party”
A “Pink Party” brings friends and colleagues together to raise money for breast cancer organizations. The fun thing about a Pink Party is that it can be as fancy or casual as you want. Just remember to keep things pink! Pink balloons welcome your guests, and pink ribbons bundle the silverware at every place setting. Welcome your guests and have a pretty (pink!) basket set aside for their donations, which you will later forward to your favorite breast cancer charity.
What’s on the menu? Pink food, of course. Frost some cupcakes and cookies. If you prefer a fancier menu, consider a main salmon dish or fingerling potatoes with avocado and smoked salmon.
Host a 50/50 raffle
Here’s another idea that requires nothing more than a roll of raffle tickets. Sell the tickets at whatever price point works for your friend group, and hold a raffle drawing on a set date. The winner receives half of the proceeds, and the other half is donated to a cancer charity. This works great paired with another fundraising event, like a walkathon or a Pink Party.
Let your younger family members do their part as well. Help the kids put together a bake sale to raise money for breast cancer charities. Do you have a signature baked good? Send the kids out with order forms and set aside a weekend to bake apple pies or devil’s food cakes to delight the recipients and raise money for the cause.
You don’t have to be a professional fundraiser to make a difference. Every dollar counts, from the vast corporate donations to small bills and change. The staff at Air Specialist loves being part of the solution. Remember to schedule your service calls in October when you, too, can help support our loved ones as they battle breast cancer.
