October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we want to let you know that we here at Air Specialist are working with Susan G. Komen to help fundraise.

What We Are Doing to Help

For every single service call we have in October, $1 will be donated to the Komen Foundation Houston. We also participated in the 2020 Virtual Race for the Cure! Even though the 30th anniversary of this race in Houston is unfortunately not taking place in person on October 3rd, we will still be going online with thousands of our Houston neighbors and virtually listening to stories from cancer survivors, as well as learning about what the Susan G. Komen Foundation is researching to race towards a cure for breast cancer! Then, we are going to walk around our neighborhood, and we hope you do the same! Here is a registration link to sign up for the 2020 Houston Virtual Race for the Cure, which has already raised almost $500,000, and, we hope to reach that goal with your help!

More About Susan G. Komen

The reason we are donating $1 from every service call this October is because we know the Susan G. Komen Foundation is dedicated — not just in the Houston Community, but around the U.S. — to treating and researching breast cancer, and also providing the testing and resources to prevent women from getting cancer in the first place. In fact, we wanted to donate to Susan G. Komen most because they go where healthcare is needed. Back in 2016, Susan G. Komen launched the Partners in Pink: Galveston County Breast Cancer Coalition, after noting that women in Galveston County had a 16% higher death rate then in the rest of Texas. So, we trust this organization to go where help and funding are needed most!

Although many cancer-related statistics can seem daunting, another statistic we want to point out is that there are currently about 3.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States. So, we can join together and know that, with everything from fundraising to local facilities to clinical trials, organizations like Susan G. Komen are quickly working to find a cure, and we can all have hope!

Check out the Komen Houston page to find out more, and how you can get involved!
